Step 1: Choose A Niche (To Gain A Competitive Edge)
It seems like these days everyone and their grandma wants to start a blog which makes it difficult to rank in search results. To avoid this, you’ll need to find a niche that isn’t overly competitive but still has enough people interested to generate traffic and income for your blog.
In order to rank, choose a sub-niche to work in. One example might be, health and fitness articles for injured athletes. In this example, you can see that it’s targeting a very specific set of people.
These people might be interested in articles that teach them alternative low-stress workouts to help them heal faster.
Step 2: Build your website
WordPress is the best platform for building out a fitness blog. That’s because it allows you to keep your site secure and use plugins for all of your SEO needs. WordPress was originally built as a blogging platform and it’s what over 50% of the internet uses. It comes with the least amount of limitations.
Now, there are a few different ways that you can go about setting up WordPress on your own domain or hosting company. You could either purchase website space from a provider like Siteground along with a domain. Or you can reach out to me and I’ll help get you set up because it can be a little techy.
Domain – Namecheap is the cheapest place to purchase your domain. Purchase a domain with namecheap.

Step 3: Set up Your WordPress Theme
Once you have a domain and WordPress installed on your new server, you’ll want to choose a theme so that you can make changes to your website without having to write code.
Personally, I use Divi Theme because it’s simple and elegant. It also has a drag and drop builder and I find it to be one of the easiest and fastest ways to build a website. Furthermore, it has a huge community behind it so that you’ll always have help if needed. And it’s super scalable, by that I mean you aren’t limited to any customizable features, you can change every little detail that you want on your website with this theme.

Step 4: Add an SEO plugin so you can rank faster.
Next, you’ll need an SEO plugin so that you can rank higher in search engine results. There are a ton of different SEO plugins out there, but I recommend Rankmath because it’s easy to use and has all the features you need without overcomplicating things for beginners.
Rankmath has a free version here. Personally, I use their premium version so that I can get better insights into my progress so that I can see how my posts stack up in search results. The premium version lets you see what position all your posts rank.
Step 5: Research Your Keywords
I use SurferSEO to do all of my keyword research. It’s the most comprehensive in my opinion. Unlike many other SEO research tools, they have a content planner tool.
All you have to do is log in, select content planner, type in a keyword you want to rank for and it will list out ALL of the topic ideas you should write about in order to rank for that keyword.
If you followed this strategy alone, you’ll be ranking for thousands of keywords if you made sure you stayed consistent with your posting schedule.
Step 6: Start writing your articles… A LOT OF THEM.
Honestly, starting a blog is a lot of work. Just like following a fitness routine, you’ll need some patience to reap the rewards. It takes time to sculpt your business just like it does to sculpt your body.
The key to success is the effort you put in. If you put in the work you will win in the long run and that’s the most important thing to remember.
Miles Beckler, A popular SEO YouTuber says to challenge yourself to a 90-day marketing challenge. Try to write one post a day for 90 days. According to him, it took about a year of consistent posting to start earning a monthly revenue from his first blog. Now his assets bring him millions of dollars a year. So don’t listen to all the flashy gurus that say it’s easy, otherwise, you might find yourself giving up from lack of results.
Once you do start getting traffic though, the results come exponentially!

Step 7: How To Write Blog Posts Consistently With Minimal Effort
The secret is to use artificial intelligence to help you with your content writing. AI alone isn’t going to be the end-all solution however it seriously helps out tremendously with staying consistent and giving you ideas and topics.
